The Advanced Viola Course is a Three-Year course for all those who wish to make an individual, technical and musical progress, not to be disjointed from chamber music activities, which can be done in collaboration with other string and piano classes. The course is aimed at young graduate and undergraduate violists.

The course offers students individual lessons with teachers and internationally renowned guests, as well as numerous opportunities for internal and public performances in solo and chamber music concerts.

Attendance to the course is subject to passing the entrance exam by audition, with a programme of:
– an Etude or Capriccio indicative of the candidate’s level of study;
– a Concerto time chosen at will from the viola repertoire;

Although not mandatory, performance by heart is highly appreciated.

A piano accompanist will be present; each candidate is asked to bring all necessary piano parts.

LESSONS/ATTENDANCE
Lessons, either individual or as a group, are usually held in the period between October and June. The duration of lessons will be agreed with the teacher in relation to the programs.

Each candidate deemed eligible after the entrance exam will establish the personal schedule of lessons directly with the teacher.

The Course is supported by the collaboration of Maestro Margherita Fanton.

Each year, the study plan includes pieces of the repertoire for preparing to competitions and auditions. A detailed work plan is established at the beginning of the course; it is subject to change with the teacher’s approval and it includes public performances moments as concerts and technical examinations.

Transition Examination
In order to attend the following academic year, it is mandatory to pass the passage exam with a 60-minutes program including:
– a Concerto or piece for viola and orchestra from the major repertoire;
– a piece for solo viola;
– a virtuosic piece;
– one or more pieces to be defined with the Teacher.

In the case of students under 16 years of age, the program will be adapted.

Annual attendance fee: € 1,200 to be paid meeting the following deadlines:
within 15 October €600
within 15 February €600

Individual entries must perform two pieces of different character.

LESSONS/ATTENDANCE
The Course consists of approximately 2 meetings per month. In exceptional cases due to artistic-professional reasons, lessons may be scheduled differently.

Each quartet deemed eligible after the entrance exam will establish the personal schedule of lessons directly with the teacher.
