Imola City Award

During the Festival, the Imola Academy promotes the Imola City Award, which aims to enhance the most talented students, enrolled in the summer master classes.

Only external piano students who regularly enrolled in the Festival Master Classes can participate in the Imola City competition. Registration fee is € 20.
The Imola City Prize is € 15,000.
With an additional special prize of € 5,000.00 “Florence Marzotto Daniel” awarding the best talent, donated by Dominique and Veronica Marzotto.

 

Categories and Prizes

City of Imola Prize is split into three age categories:

CAT A (17-25 years old)

1st prize € 3000

2nd prize € 2000

3rd prize € 1000

CAT B (13-16 years)

1st prize € 3000

2nd prize € 2000

3rd prize € 1000

CAT C (6-12 years)

1st prize € 1500

2nd prize € 1000

3rd prize € 500

 

“Florence Daniel Marzotto” Special talent prize € 5000
Awarded to the best talent participating in the Festival.

 

Rules and Regulations

Preliminary selection
To participate in the competition it is mandatory to face a preliminary selection by Maestro Franco Scala and Maestro Roberto Giordano.
The choice of each program is free as well as timing and repertoire. The jury reserves the right to interrupt the performance when they consider it appropriate.
Candidates who pass the audition are admitted to the semifinal rounds.

Semifinal rounds
The candidates selected at the preliminary stage will join the Chinese and Japanese pianists coming from the spring selections to participate in the semifinal rounds. Candidates must submit a free program, which may include the already performed repertoire, respecting the following maximum durations:

CAT A maximum duration 35 minutes

CAT B maximum duration 20 minutes

CAT C maximum duration 10 minutes

Final rounds
The first three finalists for each category will be admitted to the Final Rounds.
Candidates must submit a free program, which may include the already performed repertoire, respecting the following maximum durations:

CAT A maximum duration 35 minutes

CAT B maximum duration 20 minutes

CAT C maximum duration 10 minutes

At the end of the final rounds, the Commission will award the nine finalists with the Imola City Awards.
The jury will be composed by the Academy professors.
The organization reserves the right to make minor schedule changes promptly informing all the candidates accordingly.
