COURSE TYPES
The composition course has different ways, according to the students’ skills. Pupils may choose 4 types:

1)Starter  Composition Course
The course is for musicians, instrumentalists and all those who are willing to study composition or to go deeper into music theory and its productive features.
Basic preparation in theory and in Solfeggio are required for admission.

CLASSES/ATTENDANCE
– 2  individual lesson hours with the teacher
– 2 lesson hours with an assistant
– 1  hour pianoforte and piano technique
– 2 group lesson hours (production  laboratory)

The study plan includes:
– composition of 3 short original pieces for solo instrument soloist/voice or for small chamber group.
– participation in laboratory for editorial project.

The admission test is made up of:
–musical chord and interval recognition test, basic level
– composition of a tune for instrument or voice
– harmonization of a short easy fragment of a piece
– possible discussion of previous pieces written before.

The preparation course has an annual passage exam that wil determine the quality of the work.

2) Multiannual Course 
The course is for musicians and instrumentists who are specifically skilled in  reading and performing music, who  are willing to become a professional in music composition or in music broadcasting.

CLASSES/ATTENDANCE
– 3 individual lesson hours with the teacher
– 2 group lesson hours (listening,analisys,technique-composition problems)
– 1 hour pianoforte and piano technique
– 2  hours in production laboratory hours for editorial projects
– 3 orchestra conduction meetings a year with Maestro Marco Boni​

The study plan includes:
– composition of 1 original piece for  solo instrument soloist/voice or for a small chamber group
– composition of 1 original piece for medium-large groups
– 1 Analisys or 1 Transcript/Reduction of a piece out of Classical/900s/Repertoire
– editorial projects production

The admission exam is made up of:
– discussion of previous works
– musical chord and interval recognition test, advanced level
– composition of a very short piano piece  on a given  theme ( time two hours)

The Composition Department works together with Piano, Violin and Orchestra Conduction teachers from the Accademia. During the academic year there is an active laboratory on studying and creating pupils’ Partitas, in collaboration with Maestro Marco Boni and ICO Chamber Orchestra.

The preparation course has a passage exam every year, which will determine the quality of the work. Pupils may pass on to the following courses upon Composition Diploma or Composition Triennial.

3)Triennal Course
The course is dedicated to those who got their Composition Diploma or have attended triennial course (First level). It may be attended together with the Biennial Composition course in collaboration with Conservatorio di Cesena ( for more info contact the academy main office).

CLASSES/ATTENDANCE
– 3 individual lesson hours with the teacher
– 2 group lesson hours ( listening,analisys,technique-composition problems)
– 1 piano and piano technique
– 2 production laboratory hours for editorial projects
– 3 orchestra conduction meetings a year with  Maestro Marco Boni​

The study plan includes:
– composition of an opera scene or a chamber opera
-variations for medium-large staff
-composition of a concert for solo instrument/voice and orchestra
-production for publishing projects

The admission exam is made up of:
– discussion of previous works
– musical chord and interval recognition test, advanced level
– composition of a very short piano piece on a given theme ( time two hours)

4)Theory course

This course is reserved to students who are already within the Accademia,who want to improve in theory and composition of their repertoire.  An additional scope of the course is to develop communication and information skills (lesson-concert,conferences, hall programs) related to their activity.

CLASSES/ATTENDANCE
The course is made up of 6 individuali meetings with the Composition teacher. Through the most advanced students, the Analisys and Composition Department collaborates with the other Academy Departments, becoming available for free theory and analisys support for those who intend to improve on a particular issue or a particular work from their repertoire.

DATE AND DOCUMENTS FOR THE ADMISSION EXAM

TUITION FEE:
Starter  Composition Course, Multiannual Course and Triennial Course have an 8 month duration and cost  2300,00€
Theory course ( 6 individual lessons)  cost  580,00€

Payments shall be made as follows:
First fee expiring 15th October each academic year
Second fee expiring 15th  February each academic year
